    Morning Glass Coffee (Oahu)

Published: Jul 18, 2024 by Kathy · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

Morning Glass Coffee is a bright and cheerful coffee shop in the Manoa neighborhood of Honolulu. Come for excellent coffee drinks, housemade sodas, breakfast burritos, and lots of great pastries and cakes!

Morning Glass Coffee has been open for well over a decade. Friendly service, good energy, and a welcoming indoor/outdoor set up.

It's a great spot to meet up with friends. I've seen people on first dates here, people on informal interviews. Families with little kids for breakfast. Everything and anyone!

I love to come with my son on weekday mornings, or meet up for coffee and pastries with a friend. Always a good experience ^_^

    Location

Morning Glass Coffee is located in the Manoa neighborhood of Honolulu.

Manoa is a delicious neighborhood with good food. It's a very local and friendly neighborhood with plenty of families and kids. Some families have lived here for multiple generations.

Good eats in the area include Choco le‘a (for chocolates and soft cream), the beautiful Waioli Kitchen & Bake Shop, and an old school sandwich shop called Andy's Sandwiches and Smoothies. There's also the newly opened Little Plum, Leahi Health, Brug Bakery, Off The Hook Poke Market, Feast (for nice plate lunch), and lots more.

    What To Get

There is so much good stuff here, both drink and food! Here's what I love:

Sucker Punch drink from Morning Glass Coffee.

    Sucker Punch Drink.
Have you ever had iced lemonade with espresso? The Sucker Punch drink is a combo of their housemade lemonade and two shots of espresso.

An unexpected pairing but I love it! Extra refreshing on a hot day.

Ginger Soda drink from Morning Glass Coffee.

    Housemade Ginger Soda.
They make several different housemade sodas but the ginger is my favorite. Great balance between sweet and spicy. Always hits the spot on a hot day.

Here are the other housemade soda flavors ^_^

Ginger is my first choice, but I'm also a fan of the Espresso Soda!

Breakfast burrito from Morning Glass Coffee.

    Breakfast Burrito.
Breakfast burritos are far and few in Hawaii, and we are lucky the one from Morning Glass is extra tasty. Local eggs, meat of the day (often chorizo), roasted bell peppers and onions, potatoes, aged cheddar. Rolled up in a flour tortilla and grilled. The burritos often sell out, so go early if it's a must-have for you.

    Egg A Muffin.
Housemade English muffin (super good) is turned into a sandwich with local eggs, bacon, gruyere, housemade tomato jam, and arugula.

Whether you're getting the breakfast burrito or egg a muffin, make sure to ask for a side of the Valentina hot sauce!

    Cakes and Pastries!
Morning Glass is super popular for housemade cakes and pastries. I was looking in my phone for photos of the many loaf cakes, scones, layered cakes, pies, etc, I've had here over the years. But I couldn't find any!

I think it's because I get so excited I end up eating it all before thinking to take a photo. I promise to take a photo next time and update this post. If anything in the pastry case or refrigerated cake case looks good to you, get it.

Some of my favorites: olive oil cake, scones, and lilikoi honey butter biscuit.

    When To Go

Go on a weekday! Weekends are fun but the lines are very long. This is because more people have off work and there is a popular hiking trail nearby.

Manoa is also getting very popular with tourists. While weekdays are mostly locals, the weekends are a mix of everyone. If you have patience and are ok to wait in line in the sun, then come on weekends. But if you can come on the weekdays, it's a more relaxing experience.

I love Morning Glass on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday late mornings. Such a relaxed vibe and always puts you in a good morning. Great coffee and food also helps ^_^

    Insider Tips And Notes

    • Craving a breakfast burrito? If you go on a weekend, go super early. If you go on a weekday, try to get there before 10am. They always sell out.
    • If the parking lot is full, there is plenty of free street parking nearby.
    • No wifi.
    • There are a few counter/window seats inside, but Morning Glass Coffee has primarily outdoor seating.
    • Morning Glass sell mini bags of Classic (and Reverse) Crunch a le‘a from Choco le‘a! Choco le‘a is located just around the corner. Their Crunch treats are so delicious but they only sell big bags at the store. I LOVE that Morning Glass sells these mini bags, they are perfect for a single serving.
    • Frequent customer? Don't forget, they have a punch card ^_^
