We eat lots of sashimi-style fish in Hawaii. Most popular is ahi tuna, simply sliced and served with soy sauce and wasabi on the side.
But sometimes we like to switch things up. We top sashimi with sizzling sesame oil and soy sauce. Other times we change the flavor profile completely and dress sashimi "crudo-style" with olive oil, lemon juice, and sea salt.
This dish has only a few ingredients, so try to use nice quality ingredients. Fresh ahi tuna. Good olive oil. Fresh lemon. Flaky sea salt. Easy and delicious.

Unlike ahi poke or other raw fish dishes in Hawaii, this is not a dish that you can prepare ahead of time and store in the refrigerator.
The lemon juice "cooks" the sashimi (like ceviche) as soon as you squeeze it on the sashimi. This is why you want to start enjoying the dish within a couple of minutes of making it.
