Rainbow Cake is a Hawaii classic and local favorite! This glorious cake features three main flavors: guava, lilikoi (passion fruit), and lime. Here's a list of our favorite places for rainbow cake ^_^

If you're from Hawaii, you know all about rainbow cake ^_^
It a popular cake that shows up at birthday parties, potluck parties, all kinds of parties! And because you don't need a reason to eat cake, you can also get rainbow cake by the slice at many bakeries.
Here are our favorite spots:
MW Restaurant
Michelle makes the most wonderful rainbow cake. Her chiffon cakes are delicate and light, never too sweet, and perfectly balanced with the whipped cream frosting. You can order whole cakes from MW Restaurant with 72 hour notice.
The whole cakes come in 6, 8, and 10-inch rounds. Her rainbow cake features two layers each of three flavors: lilikoi / passion fruit (yellow), lime (green), and guava (pink). Rainbow sprinkles to finish. What a joy!
Michelle's rainbow cake is also available by the slice at Artizen by MW (located right downstairs from MW Restaurant). The cake offerings change daily. Make sure to call and check if they have rainbow cake on the day you visit.
Kulu Kulu Bakery
The Kulu Kulu rainbow cake has one layer each of six flavors. A serious rainbow! You can order whole cakes with 3 business days notice. The whole cakes come in 7-inch rounds. They also have rainbow cake slices available for walk-in.
Kulu Kulu has two locations in Waikiki. We like the one at Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center because they validate parking (free parking!) That way we can go shop and eat in Waikiki before picking up the cake ^_^
Zippy's
Zippy's rainbow cake is a three layer cake with guava, lilikoi / passion fruit, and lime. They brush a layer of fruity glaze between the cake layers and finish with whipped cream and more glaze. The cake is available as an 8-inch round. To order a whole rainbow cake, complete the cake order form and someone will contact you in 3-5 days to confirm the order.

Liliha Bakery
Liliha Bakery doesn't list their rainbow cake as an option on their online cake order form, but you can walk in or call the bakery to order rainbow cake. They do the classic three flavors (guava, lilikoi / passion fruit, and lime) and pair with lilikoi glaze.

Foodland
You can find everything at Foodland, rainbow cake included! You can get the Foodland rainbow cake as a whole cake, half cake, and slice. The Foodland version features the classic three flavors (guava, lilikoi / passion fruit, and lime) and pair with a guava glaze.
❤️ RIP Saint-Germain/Dee Lite Bakery
Saint-Germain/Dee Lite Bakery was my favorite bakery and cake shop growing up. Here's a great article about them. They had multiple locations and the most wonderful sweet and savory. Ham rolls, custard long johns, butter rolls! Everything they made was delicious. We celebrated countless birthdays with their rainbow cakes, dobash cakes, and strawberry shortcakes. Many friends and family also loved this bakery very much. Happy memories ^_^
P.S. If you're in Los Angeles, try the rainbow cake from King's Hawaiian Bakery in Torrance (read our complete post about King's Hawaiian Bakery here)...
...and if you're in San Francisco, try the cake from Queen Emma Cake from Ono Bakehouse in Berkeley. It has layers of guava, lilikoi / passion fruit, and coconut (instead of lime) chiffon cake and mousse. Read our complete post about Ono Bakehouse here.
P.P.S. Love rainbow cake? Make sure to also try another Hawaii classic: Rainbow Jello ^_^
