Little Vessels Donut Co. is a delicious vegan donut stand in Kaimuki (Oahu). Fun, plenty of local flavors, and super fresh. Only open certain days.
Donuts! We love sweets in Hawaii, and especially fried sweets.
Several donuts shops have opened in the past couple years, and two of them happen to be vegan. One is Holey Grail Donuts (in Kakaako) and the other is Little Vessels Donut Co.
Whether you're vegan or not, these are just really good donuts.
Holey Grail Donuts makes cake donuts and Little Vessels Donut Co. makes yeast donuts. These yeast donuts are big, fluffy, and gorgeous! They're handmade in small batches and the flavors, which range from classic to seasonal, are very fun.
Location
Little Vessels Donut Co. is located in Kaimuki.
They're on a particularly delicious stretch of the neighborhood with places like The Local General Store, Local I'a, Mud Hen Water, Leahi Health, Miro Kaimuki, The Curb, No Name BBQ Sandwich, and Breadshop right nearby. You could spend an entire day eating here!
Little Vessels Donut Co. isn't a full on store, but a colorful stand in a parking lot shared with The Local General Store and Mud Hen Water.
They have several parking spots right out front. The lot is often full on a weekend, but if you visit on a Monday (they're open certain Monday mornings), then you can find a spot easily.
If you can't get parking in one of the stalls, there is plenty of nearby street parking. There's paid metered street parking along Waialae Avenue, and free parking on the side streets.
What To Get?
It all depends on what day you go.
The flavors change daily, but there are certain classics that you can count on. They include: vanilla glaze, chocolate sprinkle, strawberry sprinkle, and cinnamon sugar.
In the box pictured above there is (clockwise from top left):
- Salted almond chocolate
- Strawberry sprinkle
- Lychee
- Biscuits and tea
Everyone like the salted almond chocolate the best ^_^
Keep an eye out for the "fancies" which include seasonal flavors. Recent fancies include: pineapple li hing, guava cookie mac nut, lemon black sesame, and miso caramel furikake.
If you want a specific flavor, check their Instagram account for the latest updates.
They also make donut holes and fritters but I haven't tried those yet. Next time for sure!
When To Go?
Check the hours before you go. They only open specific dates/times. The usual hours are :
- Monday, 8am-12pm
- Friday, 8am-12pm
- Saturday, 10am-2pm
- Sunday, 10am-2pm
But! Sometimes they close on a certain Friday or Monday, etc. Check Instagram for the most current hours. They post a calender at the start of each month.
Insider Tips
- There's a $2 discount if you order a box of six donuts. You can mix and match any flavors.
- They often sell out early on weekends. If you don't want to rush or go early, then look out for the dates they're open on Mondays and go on a Monday!
- Each time I get donuts, I also visit The Local General Store. There's a small back door located to the right of the donut stand. That door leads right into the side entrance of The Local General Store. Less than 15 seconds walk ^_^
