We love Dew Drop Inn! This Honolulu restaurant is popular for Northern Chinese food. They have been around for years and it's still family owned. Here's what we like to order ^_^

Dew Drop Inn is a family favorite and everyone is so excited when we have dinner plans here. We use to visit often with relatives when I was younger and it's just as tasty today...maybe even more delicious!
Most recently I went with my parents and son. Thumbs up all around ^_^
Location
Dew Drop Inn is a small restaurant on Beretania Street. There's free parking right next to the restaurant. Make reservations ahead of time. It's a casual restaurant but fills up pretty fast. Lots of people love this place. Also, BYOB!
What To Order
Ready to eat? We have several favorites and tend to order the same dishes with at every visit heheh. Portions are generous and great for sharing.
Bean Curd with Choy Sum
If I had to pick, the Bean Curd with Choy Sum is my single favorite dish at Dew Drop Inn. I mean...look at that!!!
Four big pieces of bean curd sheets stuffed with lots of goodies, then slowly braised in a savory sauce. It's served on a big bed of choy sum. I could eat this entire plate on my own.
I opened up one of the pieces so you can see what's inside. Glass noodles, carrots, mushrooms, green onions...a really good mix of flavors. And the sauce!
My mom said the sauce is what really makes this dish. I want make a simplified version of this at home. Seeing this photo again motivates me ^_^
Shanghai Pan-Fried Buns
Shanghai Pan-Fried Buns are one of their most popular dishes and a definite must when you visit. The buns are super juicy on the inside and crisp on the outside bottom. A super combination.
You can chose between a pork filling or vegetable filling. It's hard to pick! With a big group, we order both. But with a smaller group we just alternate pork and vegtetable with each visit. They are both great choices.
After these buns, you'll want some soup...
Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup
Spicy and hearty, a comforting soup that will warm you to the core. If you come solo, the noodle soup is an ideal meal for one. If you come in a group, you can ask for small bowls and spoon out a small portion for everyone.
Here's a look at the noodles! Next up...
Shao Bing!
These housemade sesame bread pockets are wonderful and come to the table hot, hot, hot. They're layered, flaky, and topped with black and white sesame seeds.
For the filling, select between pork-vegetable or pork-tofu. Both great but I usually order this pork-tofu option.
To eat, take one of the sesame bread pieces and carefully open it so that you have a pocket.
Then use a spoon and stuff generously with the pork-tofu filling. Then eat it! Soooo tasty ^_^
Pro Tip: You can (and should!) order extra pieces of shao bing a la carte.* The shao bing is delicious and it's not something I can easily make at home.
We order several pieces for takeout and prepare our own filling for breakfast or lunch the next day! For breakfast, we make scrambled eggs and chives. For lunch, I make a simple and tasty ground pork stir fry. We warm the shao bing in the toaster oven.
*Shao bing is currently priced at $4 per piece. Each piece is cut in half so you can get two "pockets" from each piece.
And More!
Other dishes that I like but we didn't order on the last visit:
- Green Onion Pancakes
- Preserved Eggs and Tofu...so tasty!! We also make this at home.
- Mu Shu / Moo Shu vegetables and pancakes.
- Shrimp and Pork Wontons in Spicy Sauce...reminds me of this.
- Fantuan
- Garlic Ong Choy (they also have ong choy with beef).
- And if you want a drink, the cold soy milk is delicious.
FAQ and Useful Tips
There is a small but free lot right next to the restaurant. Beretania Street is a one way street and you need to turn right to go into the lot. Drive with care because the curb is really high.
There is also free street parking after 6pm.
This is a really popular takeout spot. Over the course of our dinner I saw several different people come in and pick up takeout orders. You can order ahead online or over the phone.
Yes, it's BYOB!
Reservations are not required but definitely recommended. It's a small restaurant and can get quite busy.
