Ingredients

  • 12 shrimp and pork wontons fresh or frozen
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • salt optional
  • 1 stalk green onion finely chopped

Instructions

  • First prepare the soup. In a medium pot, bring the chicken broth to a boil.
  • Season with the sesame oil and white pepper. Taste and add a little salt if need. Turn the heat to low and put a lid on the pot.
  • On a separate burner, boil a pot of water (use a medium size pot). Gently add in the wontons and carefully stir to make sure the don't stick to the bottom of the pot. Once the wontons start floating, cook for another 1-2 minutes.
We usually cook fresh wontons for 3 minutes and frozen wontons for 6 minutes, but exact times depend on the size of your pot, how high the heat is, and amount of water used.
  • Use a slotted spoon or strainer to scoop out the wontons. Divide the wontons into two bowls. Ladle the soup over the wontons.
  • Top with chopped green onions and a little more white pepper. Eat hot and enjoy!
