Ingredients

  • 4 oranges
  • 4 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  • Rub each orange with salt and rinse it under water for a couple of minutes. Wash it very well and make sure the skin is clean.
  • Slice off the top of each orange, and set the tops aside
  • Sprinkle a teaspoon of salt on the open part of each orange. Then use a fork to poke a few small holes to help the salt sink deeper into the orange.
  • Place the tops back on each orange. Place each closed orange into individual dishes/bowls.
  • Steam the oranges for 20 minutes.
  • Remove from the steamer. Remove the tops/caps from the orange. There are two ways you can eat the orange:
    1. Peel and discard the skin. Then break the orange into wedges and eat it just like that.
    2. Use a spoon or fork and scoop the orange out of the shell/skin.
  • P.S. You can also drink the juice/liquid in the bowl...the liquid may be a little bitter from the skin but believed to be very good for you.
